Crisis in New York?
July 27, 2002
BROOKLYN, NY — Donnie Creighton is a high-profile New Yorker living life in the fast lane. Unfortunately, the Carl Spackler Open?s Captain?s Club is having to re-evaluate their decision in selecting Escobar as their Vice President of Discipline.
Greg Long, Chairman, issued the following statement; ?The Captain?s Club never wishes to publicly criticize a field member, especially a fellow Captain?s Club member but, Mr. Creighton has left us with no other alternative.? Mr. Long?s disappoint is specific to Don?s lack of self-discipline in setting time aside for Carl and the playing a little golf just for the sake of golf.
Jason Dilks, Captain?s Club member, commented, ?I too have had to have my name addressed publicly. No player wishes his name in the headlines under these circumstances. It is not only embarrassing for the man but also for his family and friends.? Since being publicly blasted, Dilksy has recorded four rounds of golf in three weeks. The effectiveness is clearly visible in the results.
Donnie Creighton was not available for comment. This writer feels that he was probably at the local watering hole or spending the weekend at his beach house. That is correct! Don can go to the shore every weekend but refuses to take his clubs along and show some respect to the organization he represents.
Mr. Long finished his statements with, ?As Vice President of Player Discipline, Mr. Creighton must have the respect of the field. The Captain?s Club feels that Mr. Creighton is not giving such respect to the field. It is painfully obvious that Don is a careless individual by his three registered rounds of golf since January. It is a disgrace.?
