VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The monthly Captains Club press conference was called for tournament updates including discussion about June 2006. Runner up for the Horses Ass, Kevin Long, Jr. took the microphone.

"Thank you everyone for attending today," says Long. "This tournament is very exciting business and our club looks forward to each press session."

Kevin sat down in his designated chair as a cloud of white puffy smoke raised from the chair. "Wow.  I must have used too much Gold Bond.  Anyways, I would like to discuss our two most important items this morning."

Without a pause and a concerned voice, "First would be the inability for Mike Herron to send us his pictures so we can official close out the 2005 tournament season and look forward to 2006.  He is not killing me.  He is killing the entire major championship.  If one of you reporters can get that to him, that would be great."

Then Kevin shifted his butt in the chair and showed a smile.  "Secondly, I have some updates on the 2006 Carl Spackler Open to communicate.  We have investigated plenty of opportunities this summer already and believe we have a handle on the 2006 venue.

We are pretty sure this tournament will boil down to very southern Michigan, New York, West Virginia, or Kentucky.  They all have wonderful venues and could see both states hosting an Open in 2006, 2007, or 2008."

Old Silo Golf Club is located 30 minutes east of downtown Lexington, KY.  Grande Golf Club is located 50 minutes northwest of Toledo, OH in Jackson, MI.  Legacy Golf Club is located 10 minutes northwest of Toledo, OH in Ottawa Lake, MI.  Several New York and West Virginia opportunities are being evaluated this month.

"Bristol Harbour just south of Rochester, NY was eliminated last week due to overall price," says Long.  "The Links at Ivy Ridge was also eliminated due to immaturity.  Lastly, the Pines Country Club in Morgantown, WV was eliminated due to availability and course restrictions."

Kevin then tackled the issues presented in late June 2005 for 2006.  The first issue was how to exceed expectations after Mountain Valley without raising the price. The second issue was an estimated 90 golfers and lodging arrangements for them. The club continues to expect additional growth of 32% by the signing deadline of January 1, 2006.

"We understand that everyone has expectations and we plan to exceed them.  It just takes time and planning," says a convincing Long. "We have added a service for 2006 and resolved the lodging issue.  Due to size of field, players will be given options on lodging going forward.  A room with a bed and shower or hotels with several additional pampering services such as newspaper, breakfast, Internet, soft fluffy towels, and updated structures/furniture.  It allows everyone to make their own decision based on personal budget and also keeps the tournament fee low."

Long took a moment to guzzle some of his beer before farting out the left cheak and continuing with his prepared statement.

"Our three nominated locations in Michigan and Kentucky have wonderful character and lots of opportunities.  Another visit is scheduled for Jackson, MI this coming Saturday.  Other quotes are due this week from West Virginia and a quick scouting trips to Kentucky and New York are also been planned in September.

The Red Zone Alert started today.  I have not been the poster child for this alert, but wanted to communicate the importance.  We have 10 months to go.

That about does it. Does anyone have any questions?"

A reporter in the back asked one question. "Why do you use so much powder?"  Kevin replied, "It keeps you dry down there.  It is has been very hot and humid and you really cannot put a price on being fresh and dry."

Another reporter asked, "What is your gut feeling for 2006 venue?" Long replied, "I really do not know at this point.  I can assure everyone on the coast, they will have a 7-11 hour drive unless we see a miracle opportunity in West Virginia.  It will not be in the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, or Pennsylvania.  I have heard the strong venue candidates for 2006 are heavily conditioned facilities with very different, very unique entertainment opportunities.  These are wonderful things and just looking forward to Captains Club win-win vote on venue in early October."

Long told reporters he would take one more question.  A reporter asked where the focus is this year and beyond.  "We have focused on our issues in the short term.  Those being growth, lodging for that growth, and a venue within 1 hour of a major airport to accomodate that nationwide attendance.  As far as beyond, we have evaluated a maximum field of players, possible criteria for registration, itinerary adjustments including 72 hole tournament, adding a second annual tournament, becoming charitable, and financial cinergies.  We have plenty of time to consider our options before 2007.  That is where we plan to hit the maximum attendance and start making decisions."

Kevin Long said his good byes, reminded everyone once again of the Red Zone, and left the building for a round of golf.
