Ready for 2nd Major
August 24, 2005
TERRA ALTA, WV — Rick Dosky, the winner of the 2005 Carl Spackler Open is doing everything he can to prepare for his 2nd major and maybe become the first player to win two amateur majors in one season.
Dosky, the Chief Financial Officer of the Carl Spackler Open, has signed to play at his 4th Golfapalooza in Terra Alta, WV. He is part of a 27-man field.
"I am just doing exactly what I did in preparation for Spackler," says Dosky. "No golf and bring along plenty of alcohol products."
Dosky opened strong (3rd place), remained strong through moving day (2nd place), and finished strong (1st place) at the 2005 tournament in Barnesville, PA. He won his first Golden Jacket and returned the trophy back to Columbus for the 3rd time in 5 years.
Dosky was one of very few players that did not play their worst 3 rounds of the season at the June championship. He hopes by just not playing golf, he can pick up where he left off.
"Alpine Lake Resort has never setup for me well," says Dosky. "The course demands a slice or fade on more than half the holes. I tend to hook and even cannot play Hole 9 very well. I will continue to downplay the idea of winning at Golfapalooza."
Several members depart for their 2nd major of the season. Brian Flanagan, Jason Watson, and Greg Long depart for their 5th Golfapalooza and 10th major in 5 years. Pat Boland sets up for his 6th major and 4th Golfapalooza. Greg Garrett also has signed for this 5th Golfapalooza and 9th major championship.
