October's Media Day

October 3, 2005

BUFFALO, NY — With a few days left before the venue announcement, the October Media Day was completed. There were many points to discuss including the 2006 venue announcement, tournament fee, red zone violations, new website and invitations.

Mike Trojanowski led the press conference inside the new Spackler News Network media center.

"Thanks to everyone for attending today.  First, I am very pleased to announce there are no public violations of the Red Zone as of today.  Although, we could have some quiet violators, we have received public notifications in the past.  That is very good news."

Trojanowski pointed to a guy in the media center chewing gum.  "Is that Dentine," says a thought provoking Trojanowski?  "Do you have any extra stick?  I am very touchy these days with the Red Zone Alert still active for another two weeks."

Trojanowski continued, "We fully expect the tournament fee to accommodating as in years past.  We have not budgeted and will begin to do so next week, but I am pretty safe saying everyone can expect something around the past fees."

"Our tournament invitation will be online this year and not mailed to your house.  It will be everyone's responsiblity to visit the new website in November and December and get the critical information.  If you are definitely in and need reminders, send a check to Dosky today.  Make it out for $120 and remember it is non-refundable."

"We will be transitioning to a new website over Halloween.  This means the old website will be gone forever.  My computer guys tell me the scorecards, photographs, player bios, and course information is safe.  Everything else is gone as we move over to Poststats.com.  We are looking forward to all the additional services as the tournament continues to grow at record pace."

"Lastly, we have a day or so to finish up our discussions on 2006 venue.  We expect an announcement in a day or so.  Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or back to North Carolina.  Always excited to work with the red hats and looking forward to signing day."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 7-10, 2006 in an undisclosed location.  An estimated 80-90 players are scheduled to attend the 6th major championship.

"Does anyone have any questions," asked Mike Trojanowski? "I have time for a few questions."  A reporter asked, "What do you think about the new website?"  Trojanowski replied, "I have not seen it.  I keep hearing things, but have no comment on that."

Another reporter asked, "Why can't the red hats say $120 without non-refundable?"  Troj replied, "Because it is law.  Because it is just something we want to communicate.  We don't want anyone to every hear the entry fee is $120 without also hearing it is non-refundable.  It is just critical to tournament success."

"I have time for one more question," says Trojanowski.  A reporter stood up and asked, "What is your preference for venue in June?"  Mike thought for a second and responded, "I am not about to give out that information.  This is not about me or any particular individual.  It is about 100 members.  Does anyone have a serious question?"

A reporter asked, "Mr. Trojanowski.  I have been watching your golf game closely over the past season.  You are playing very well and really sucked in the past.  Do you have any recommendations for me as a fellow hacker?"

Trojanowski wasted no time, "Inside Approach.  I think Creighton won it at Maroon's last June.  It is an incredible tool that completely removes hooks and slices.  Completely."

"I am done for this month," said Mike as he stood up to leave the media center.  "I will see you guys next month with venue, budget, and new website."
