Kentucky/Michigan Out
October 10, 2005
BUFFALO, NY — The 18 hole championship Old Silo and Legacy Golf Clubs featuring PGA Tour style greens, picture perfect tee boxes, crisp fairways, and wonderful clubhouses were eliminated as possible venues of the 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship.
"The locations do not have the right touch," says Jamie Myers. "The course layout at Legacy did not entirely meet Spackler standards and the city of Mount Sterling, KY is lacking. The Legacy also did not have availability for the optional scramble."
Old Silo is currently ranked #2 in the state of Kentucky. The conditions at the Legacy were top of the line. "The greens were absolutely outstanding," says Jay Dilks regarding the Legacy. "They are better than Tanglewood Park and would be the best in Spackler history."
"I would suggest that our opportunity losses of 2006 in Michigan and Kentucky demonstrate the incredible opportunities in North Carolina," says Mike Trojanowski.
The 2006 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2005. A field of 80 players are estimated for the 6th major championship.
