3rd Major Awaits
December 12, 2005
COLUMBUS, OH — The Spackler Business Office today received a surprise letter of intent from Shawn Long, a returning member that plans to succeed in this upcoming major championship. Shawn Long returns for his 3rd major.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 235-pound man has never been an avid golfer, but plans to capitalize this spring. "Today marks the beginning of my personal quest to win this major championship", said member Long. "There will be no time for fun this spring as I have some catching up to do."
The Chairman of the Captains Club expressed his acceptance to the tournament by saying, "I am very happy that Shawn will be joining the field this year. He is a fine student of computers and very talented at the Columbus Zoo. There is no telling what he can do with those golf clubs completely covered in chlorophyll."
Long begun his Spackler career with 160 strokes shooting 74 on the front and 86 on the back nine. "Thunder Hill was pretty difficult course", says Long. "Nobody can truely understand hacking until you swing the club 140 times before Hole 16. Mountain Valley was not much easier. Thank god this year's venue cannot possibly play harder. I have not played it, but can guarantee nothing can be more difficult."
The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship registration deadline completes in 16 days. To date, four players have signed to play in the best amateur golf championship in America. A practice round is scheduled for June 7 with Round 1 beginning on June 8.
