PEORIA, IL — One of the least noticed, most important roles within planning the Carl Spackler Open returns for a 18th year in 2022. All golf bags can be stored at Metamora Fields Golf Club between each players first and final round.

"This is the most underrated planning we do for the tournament," says Jason Ridgeway. "This eliminates hundreds of hours of bag handling throughout the week and eliminates the vehicles required to transport bags."

Participants will be provided a personalized Carl Spackler Open bagtag on Wednesday, June 22. This is the 16th straight year bagtags will be provided.

The efficiencies of bag storage was first realized in 2002 at the Colonial Golf Club in Williamsburg, VA. It did not return for two years due to golf club policies. It returned in Barnesville, PA with very powerful results. It has been included every year except Myrtle Beach, Kalamazoo, and Farmington.

"This is a great add for traveling partners who have tee times not close to one another," says Jeremy Myers. "All I need is a ride to the golf course in the morning."

The bag storage will not be valet. Golfers are responsible to store them and remove them each morning from the clubhouse. "There are no guarantees that the golf course will be placing golf bags on carts," added Ridgeway. "This is a service to eliminate the need for traveling partners to come and leave the golf course property together."

The tournament participants will be instructed where to place golf bags. Participants will grab personal belongings such as wallets, jewelry, etc. and return the next day to recart.

"Golfers should place their street shoes in their golf bag while playing each round," added Ridgeway. "Swap your shoes, store your bag, grab your valuables, and your ready for dinner."

The 2022 Carl Spackler Open begins its practice round on Wednesday, June 22. As of today, there are 96 players signed to participate in the 21st celebration of golf and friends. The Captains Club are expected to crown another champion in just 56 days.
