MARSHALL, MI — The excitement is building in the world of golf as the Captains Club continues to evaluate its options for the 2024 Carl Spackler Open. The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan, has been added to the venue list for hosting the prestigious 2024 event. Nestled within 275 acres of pristine marshland and woodlands, the Medalist Golf Club has emerged as a top contender to stage this prestigious tournament.

Designed by acclaimed architect Bill Newcomb in 1997 and 1998, the Medalist Golf Club boasts a championship-level course that stretches almost 7,000 yards from the back tees. This layout promises a challenging yet immensely rewarding experience for golf enthusiasts.

"This is a solid event choice," says Captains Club member Marty Whalen. "Everything is here in Marshall."

General Manager Lowell Weaver offers insight into what players can anticipate as they tee off on this remarkable course. The initial holes provide a relatively gentle introduction to the game, allowing golfers to ease into their round. Weaver describes them as "warm-up holes" where players can comfortably "grip it and rip it."

However, as the round progresses, golfers encounter holes four through thirteen, presenting a formidable series of challenges that include strategic carries over marshes and wetlands. This midsection of the course demands precision and strategy, testing even the most skilled golfers.

The climax of the round arrives with the last five holes, starting with the 14th, which provides an opportunity for golfers to unleash their competitive spirit and pursue impressive scores. These finishing holes are designed to be both thrilling and memorable.

While the decision to host the 2024 Carl Spackler Open at the Medalist Golf Club is still pending, the anticipation among golf enthusiasts is palpable. The Medalist's combination of breathtaking natural beauty and a demanding yet enjoyable course layout makes it an ideal candidate to host such a prestigious event.

In addition to the golfing excitement, Marshall, Michigan, offers a range of experiences for visitors. Three bars, including Dark Horse Brewery, are conveniently located of the hotel. Dark Horse Brewery, founded by Aaron Morse, has earned a stellar reputation for its exceptional craft beers, including IPAs, ales, and session beers.
