Watson Enters Tournament

REYNOLDSBURG, OH — Brian Watson announced in late-January that he would enter the Carl Spackler Open golf tournament and represent the state of Ohio. The 54-hole tournament is slated for June 9 in the village of Barnesville, PA. Naturally, the Captains Club sent Jason Watson to accompany Brian to his press conference.

Brian Watson, a.k.a. Chef, enters his second major of the year with Golfapalooza set for September. "This is an amazing day, says Vice President of Awards Jason Watson. "Chef is multi-talented. He can drink beer, play golf, and cook a delicious dinner for 30 afterwards. Everyone should expect another John Daly, but without the distance, accuracy, short game, pants, or gastric bypass."

Chef is a rock solid 100's golfer. Las Vegas and Danny Sheridan list him on their boards at 18 to 1 (odds) to shoot a par on a given hole. The same boards have Watson at 180 to 1 (odds) to score a birdie.

Brian Watson has 10 pars over his last 10 rounds. When Pat Boland was asked whether which side of the par bet he would take, he said, "That is pretty interesting bet. I would take the bogey side and would not look back." Jason Watson defended Chef's golf game by replying, "I will take that bet in Barnesville and even let you pick the hole."

Chef is entering the golf tournament after finishing 5th at Golfapalooza last September. "I played pretty well at Golfapalooza last fall and hoping to keep the ball rolling into the hole this June," said Watson of his tournament registration. "A jacket for winning instead of losing (Golfaplaooza) would be a nice touch to my closet."

The 2011 Carl Spackler Open Championship is a 54-hole golf tournament with a practice round and optional 4-man scramble. There are between 92 and 96 golfers expected to participate in the 11th annual event. The deadline for outstanding balances is this Friday, April 15, 2011.
