Zabonik Kicks Off

April 8, 2005

POWELL, OH — Two years ago, Mike Zabonik had the best seat in this magnificent house.  That was the problem until Bill Bateson convinced him he needed to leave his magnificent house and compete in his first Open Championship.

Now with greater importance, Mike begins his quest to win the 2005 On Tour Championship after placing 2nd in November 2003.  A quest to become a household name.

Zabonik does plan to continue his assault on Scioto Reserve where he is a member.  "I like the golf course," Zabonik said. "It sets up good for me. It appeals to my eye. I like the greens. I like the imagination you have to have around the greens. I think that really goes to my game."

Zabonik fired two rounds (75-79) this week at Scioto Reserve.  His two rounds including 6 birdies.  He is averaging 44.5 points per round and could take the top spot this weekend with another strong round.  Currently, Matt Munksgard holds the position with 45.0 points per round.
