Best Putter in Spackler History

The Carl Spackler Open field has long valued the putter, otherwise known as the "Money Club". Every player who has completed three full tournaments has the opportunity to grab the Golden Rod Award. Created by Judge Smails with his own trusty putter, "Billy Baroo" as the inspiration, the Golden Rod Award symbolizes the old adage "Drive for show and putt for dough." The Golden Rod belongs to the Spacklerian who wins the most putting points during three combined Opens, recording the best Long Putt Ranking in Carl Spackler Open history. The average number of career long putt points scored determines the Long Putt Ranking. Each golf trip is worth a set of points called a pot. Each trip gets 1.375 more points than the last. For example, a trip in 2001 received 2.75 points. The 2002 pot had 4.125 points, 2003 gets 5.5, and so on. For example, Josh plays in the 2002 tournament and makes 13 long putts. At 2 points per putt, that makes 26 points plus 4.125 points from the trip pot. Multiply by 10. That gives Josh a 301 ranking. Although all players have a Long Putt Ranking, only the players finishing three complete golf trips will qualify for this outstanding award. Take it from Judge Smails and Billy Baroo, sleeping with your putter will produce the greatest results.
