Practice Round Underway
CONKLIN, NY — The 2012 Carl Spackler Open get underway tomorrow morning with its first of three tournament rounds. Approximately 60 golfers arrived around noon for a practice round at Conklin Players Club.
"The course looks to be in magnificient shape," says senior member Fernando Martinez. "Everything is heating up with my golf swing and looking forward to a great tournament."
The Carl Spackler Open gopher mascot made its first ever appearance today. "There was some wrestling in the woods behind the 10th green," says senior member Pat Marti. "I thought maybe a sasquatch was living in the Applachian forest. The entire experience shook me up."
The Carl Spackler Open signed 64 golfers last January. The entire field of players will participate in the 2:00PM practice round starting at 2:00PM EST. The day will conclude with a clubhouse player meeting.
The 2012 Carl Spackler Open is a 54-hole national golf tournament. The event has been played in Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, and North Carolina in the past 6 years. Scoring for the 12th tournament will begin today with practice round scores starting at 2:15PM EST. Fans can follow the practice round scores with live hole-by-hole scoring.
