Rutter Joins Field
WHEELING, WV — The Carl Spackler Open golf program announced today that Wayne Rutter has enrolled into the 2010 Carl Spackler Open Championship as its 23rd participant. The signed letter of intent from Rutter was received by Rick Dosky with his one-way $99 Southwest Airline flight purchase.
The 3rd year member, Rutter, returned to West Virginia last June after posting a disappointing 54th place in Virginia. Some considered the finish a disaster after such a stellar 5th place in his 2008 rookie event.
"I really never got anything going in Virginia," says Rutter of his Amherst event. "The entire tournament can be summed up with '5 pars over 54 holes'. I pretty much stunk up the place."
Uncle Wayne has since put away all negative thoughts from the mountains of Virginia and is now focused on the beaches of Texas.
"Someone needs to pinch me," said a very estatic Rutter. "I have always dreamed of being part of a major golf event in the tropics. The low expense continues to have me shaking my head daily. I am looking forward to the ocean breeze hitting face, sunglasses blocking the constant ray of sunshine, cracking open a fallen coconut, and returning a jacket and trophy to the state of West Virginia."
The +14.5 stroke handicap and left handed player is set to receive 4 points for par in Texas.
Wayne Rutter is one of eleven participants flying from Columbus, OH to Harlingen, TX on the same airplanes. He signs as the 2nd player to represent West Virginia and the 23rd overall.
There are 30 days remaining to collect full payment from all participants. There are 48 to 60 participants expected for the 10th annual birthday party.
