Behnke Joins Field

WASHINGTON, WV — Mike Behnke, a four-year Virginia Tech graduate, has signed a national letter of intent to join the Carl Spackler Open golf tournament. Mike will represent the state of West Virginia and attempt to bring home a championship to the small town of Washington, WV.

"We are excited to add a player of Behnke's caliber to our program," says former greenskeeper and Captains Club member Tom McCauley. "With a physic equal to mine, there is no limitations for Lord Farquar. I have heard about his very smooth swing and work ethic, which is so Tom McCauley. The resemblence will stop when scores are posted."

Mike averages around 100 strokes per round at his home course. This number is expected to rise by 15 percent at Mountain Valley where the fairways are as tight as two-lane roads in rural West Virginia.

“I want to major in beer drinking at the Open,” the ruthless ruler said during an interview at Duloc Castle. "I hate rookie fairy tales, however would embrace the opportunity to bring a jacket back to my castle."

An angry Lord Farquar once hit a bad chip, threw his wedge in disgust, and  hit his golf ball in mid-air sending the ball well over the green. "That was a trick shot for my golf league's amusement," says Behnke of the club throw. "I once chipped a ball that only went 2 feet in the air, bounced off a metal sprinkler cover, and then rolled right in the cup. These club throws are well intentioned for amusement."

Behnke has a goal to stay under 100 strokes and a lean 100 pounds per day. "Looking forward to the golf festival and a chance to meet D.J. Yuengling," said Mike. "Scott Miller tells me the guys even golf at Spackler with ingenious scoring system that serves up lots of points to handicapped golfers like me."

Mike Behnke is 1 of the 23 rookies who have signed for the 2011 Carl Spackler Open Championship at Mountain Valley Golf Course. Participants options are available this month with outstanding balances due in the mail prior to April 15, 2011.
