Signed, Sealed, and Withdrawn
WARREN, PA — The Carl Spackler Open golf program announced several months ago that one prospective fisherman had enrolled into the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship. The signed letter of intent from Jim English was received by Rick Dosky during the New Years Holiday and ensured his fourth straight event.
English, a.k.a Skip, is the winner of the 2004 Virtual Tournament with an unbelievable follow up in the 2005 Virtual Tournament.
On Saturday afternoon, the Captains Club received word that signed and sealed will not be delivered by English. Skip has officially withdrawn for the 8th Major Championship.
"I am not going to be able to go this year," said English in a written statement. "Hopefully by next year I will be better positioned with my new job and with some vacation be able to attend."
English joins Jerry Long as the 2nd withdrawal.
English finished in 46th position in 2005 at Mountain Valley. He returned in 2006 to finish with less respect. He finished at the Neuse in 50th position.
"Not good," said Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "Time to find another roommate."
English finished in a tie for 48th position at the Grande last June. He was the 37th best player in Spackler history with 39 senior members.
Skip was immediately replaced by Jim Munksgard, Sr. who reloads the field of players from a funded waiting list and also represents the state of Pennsylvania and city of Warren.
Jim, a.k.a. Jimmy, is the brother of senior member Jon Munksgard. Sources close to the Munksgard family are reporting Jim will also be sponsored by Captains Morgan.
Jimmy hops into the field as the 62nd player. The 8th edition of the Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled for June 5. All remaining balances must be postmarked prior to April 26.
