Daily Pairing Sheets

Daily Pairing Sheets are used to manage the entire event. These sheets provide key information during the mornings, afternoons and evenings. The sheets are shaped perfectly for your back pocket and provide a well organized event. Please carry these around like your wallet 24 hours per day.

Wednesday Pairing Sheets will be printed and split into two piles. Golfers not participating in the practice round can obtain their sheet at the hotel front desk starting at noon on Wednesday. Golfers participating in the practice round can obtain a daily pairing sheet on the practice range or in the Rock Hollow clubhouse. Please acquire your Wednesday Pairing Sheet in the appropriate place.

Updated Daily Pairing Sheets will be available at the Mandatory Player Meeting on Thursday. Friday sheets will be distributed on the shuttle bus. Saturday Pairing Sheets will be slipped under hotel room doors on Friday night. There will be very few extra copies printed and taken to the golf course.

These sheets will contain tournament pairings, leaderboard, contest information, schedule of events, shuttle schedule, tournament rules, scoring procedures, player courtesies, nightly entertainment, golf handicap information, etc..

Unofficial tournament pairings are available online in mid-May. Pairings are never final until you have a pairing sheet in your hand due to numerous changes and late-cancellation(s). Pairings for the final round on Saturday are set based on reverse leaderboard order through Round 2. Exactly like the PGA Tour with the exception of Brian Long and Greg Garrett who will score the tournament.

There are no guaranteed pairings for anyone attending with one exception. All rookies will play with their referral.

Scoring & Long Putts

Each golf cart should fill out a scorecard for entire foursome. Both scorecards for each round will be given to Brian Long or Greg Garrett for scorecard integrity. This includes the practice round.

There will be 5,184 scores plus long putts entered into a computer while on the golf trip. Please verify stroke totals on both scorecards balance. Golfers should validate stroke totals each night off computer reports to enhance scoring integrity. Please bring all scoring errors to the Brian Long and Greg Garrett.

It is the responsibility of existing members to explain long putts to rookies during the practice round.

Times & Itinerary

The trip itinerary including activity duration is available online by clicking CALENDAR. The evenings are entirely based on pace of play at the golf course. The pace of play target is a maximum of 5 hours. The itinerary is based on 5 1/2 hours for 18 holes. The itinerary is pushed back or forward depending on pace of play. Please use common sense when reviewing the evening itineraries on the daily pairing sheets.

There are at least 2 hours of tee times when the entire tournament tees from Hole 1. This four plus hour window (2 hours of tee times and 2 hours of finishing) of golfing time allows plenty of time for the tournament to get organized, practice, eat, take pictures, socialize, and score the tournament. Please plan accordingly.

There is at least 1 hours of tee times when the entire tournament field tees off Hole 1 and 10. This dual-tee or cross-over format comes with the same results described above, but in half the time.

Thursday morning is very busy. It is jam packed with events requiring 100 percent attendance. Please follow the daily pairing sheets and be on time.

Mandatory Player Meeting

A mandatory player meeting will be held at the Rock Hollow clubhouse promptly on Thursday morning at 8:45AM EST. Please be in your seat at 8:40AM EST. This scheduled 60-minute meeting has an agenda that includes:

a. General Announcements
b. Player Introductions

d. Itinerary Adjustments & Weather
e. Golf Course Notes
f. Included Food & Beverage

Practice balls are included in the tournament fee. There should be a very large bucket available on the practice range on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Balls will be available 60 minutes before your tee time.

Tournament Handicapping

The tournament handicaps will be using Poststats Points. These points are completely independent of Virtual Tournament handicaps. They will be updated and printed in early June.

The 4-man Scramble will also use handicapping. All golfers within a team will be analyzed together for team skill and be given a team handicap. The handicap system is devised for 3-man team to compete against a 5-man team on a level playing field.

Returning Awards & Trophies

Some trophies, clubs and awards won last year should be engraved where appropriate and brought back for annual distribution. Please see Jason Watson in regards to any award.

Dress Code

The golf course has a dress code policy. Golf shirts along with bermuda shorts are required. T-shirts, jogging apparel or denim of any kind is prohibited. Only soft spike golf shoes are allowed on the golf course and driving range.

Tournament Rules

The tournament tee will be played from approximately 6,450 yards. Participants older than 50 years of age can move up one tee with no penalty.

LOST BALL OR POSSIBILITY OF LOST BALL: The first option is to hit a provisional from the original spot. Then play the provisional ball if your first ball cannot be found. The second option is to drop in the area of where it was last seen with a two-stroke penalty. If your 1st shot is lost, taking a drop where the ball was last seen means you are hitting your 4th shot.

OUT OF BOUNDS: There are no white stakes at Rock Hollow Golf Club.

RED STAKES: Balls CAN BE played from inside the red-staked hazards. By penalty of one stroke, you drop within two club lengths from where the ball crossed the stakes. Another option is to hit from the original spot with 1 stroke penalty. If your first shot went into the hazard, take a drop outside the red stakes and hit your 3rd shot.

YELLOW STAKES: Balls CAN BE played from inside the yellow-staked hazards. By penalty of one stroke, you may drop anywhere in the line of the shot including the original spot. If your first shot went into the hazard, take a drop in the line of your shot and hit your 3rd shot.

UNPLAYABLE LIES: A player may take an unplayable lie anywhere on the course including the middle of the fairway. By penalty of 1 stroke, a golfer must drop two club lengths no closer to the hole from the unplayable lie. Unplayable lies normally prohibit the free swing of the golf club.

FREE DROPS: A player may obtain free relief or drop from a fairway divot or a cart path. All man-made objects such as stakes, fences and signs receive a free drop with no penalty. Your partner should assist. Drops are no closer to the hole.

LONG PUTT: The longest putt made on each hole receives long putt points. The Captains Club strongly encourages putting out of turn when pace of play is jeopardized. Mark your distance proactively and putt when partners are not standing on the green or ready to play. Fringe putts and short chips do not count. If the longest putt is less than a putter length, the hole is voided and does not push. A putter should fit between the ball and the hole to be valid. Long putts cannot be longer than its previous putt.

GIMME: The Captains Club proudly supports two forms of gimme. (1) Golfers may take a gimme (one stroke) if scoring zero points on the hole. (2) If already taking a zero points on a hole, a golfer may drop with no penalty at the 100 yard red disc in the middle of the fairway. The gimme rule speeds up pace of play while still allowing for long putt points. All other forms of gimme are prohibited.

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR BALL UNLESS IT IS MARKED AND LYING MOTIONLESS ON THE GREEN. FLUFFING IS PROHIBITED.

Weather, Bugs & Weather Delays

The area statistically averages a 78 degree-high and 67 degree-low temperature on June 6 each year. Peru averages 4.23 inches of rain in the month of June, which is the 3rd highest in history.

The 54-hole tournament has experienced completely dry conditions once in 7 years. The tournament will be played in rain, but not in a heavy downpour. The tournament could be adjusted to 36 holes on Friday or Saturday due to bad weather. Please use your daily pairing sheets and common sense. The Closest to the Pin, Skills Challenge, and 4-man Scramble in this order will be activities removed from the itinerary if needed. The tournament can also be adjusted for 27 holes on Thursday if heavy rain is expected on Friday. The Daily Pairing Sheets will be updated every night.

The choice spot to ride out very bad weather is the very large clubhouse banquet area.

Very wet conditions prior to the tournament can attract an obscene amount of mosquitos. It is recommended that players obtain plenty of insect repellent for MULTIPLE golfers over the 4 day period if Peru receives lots of rain prior to arrival. Absorbine Jr. works well.

The cooler morning temperatures could require a pullover jacket. Umbrellas, drizzle sticks, rain suits and towels should be packed.

Personal Coolers

Golfers may bring personal coolers. ABSOLUTELY NO BEER WILL BE BROUGHT ONTO THE GOLF COURSE. DO NOT SNEAK BEER ONTO THE GOLF COURSE.

On Friday, the tournament is scheduled to play the second round and optional 4-man scramble. There is an hour in-between rounds for a late lunch. Each golfer will receive a box lunch at no charge. It will include a sandwich, bag of chips, and cookie. Each golfer will also receive a 'half-large' pizza on Friday night at the hotel.

There will not be an awards dinner this year. Homer's Sports Bar has an extensive menu that is less expensive than group catering charges. An Awards Presentation will be held at Homer's Sports Bar starting at 8:00PM on the patio.

Homer's Sports Bar is the highlighted entertainment throughout the week. It is also the largest caterer in Peru, IN. The restaurant is very affordable with an extensive menu. The menu includes, but not limited to $5.75 for chicken dinner salad, $12.95 for a prime rib dinner, $2.95 for a hamburger,

·  Roommate assignments and foursome preferences are collected online and reviewed. Referrals attending with a single Spackler rookie will be roomed together. All Spackler rookies will be paired for golf with their referral on Wednesday or Thursday. There are no other guarantees.

·  A single occupancy room requires another attendee to be at single occupancy. In the event of an empty bed, a fee will be split across all single occupancy golfers not exceeding $247.

The Captains Club does review cancellations the following January. Partial transfers of lost deposit(s) and credit(s) do occur in late-January after tournament registration, but are not guaranteed and done on Captains Club terms. There has been 1 full refund/transfer, 3 partial transfers, and 3 returnees from our previous 24 cancellations.

·  If a non-refundable non-transferable deposit arrives late, check will be held, and player WILL NOT be considered into this year's tournament until the full tournament fee arrives. ·  We are not responsible for post office decisions or errors.  Send early and check website.

·  All cancellations in May or June will increase the percentage of player tournament fee loss by 3 percent per day starting May 1. ·  The full tourney fee is required to register the following year for participants with a balance on May 1.

·  Optional activities or services (scramble, practice round, etc.) are non-refundable in June.

·  Failure to comply with any requirements including rookie scorecard requirements by dates indicated is subject to losses indicated above and removal from the trip.

·  Bounced check fees are approximately $25.  This fee is your responsibility and will remain private unless you decide not to address the fee.

·  All participants must have 4+ scorecards posted online with date of play between 2006-2008.

·  The Best Western distributes room keys after submitting a personal credit or debit card.

Whiskey River Bar & Grill

There is a second pub in Peru, IN. Whiskey River Bar & Grill is located in downtown Peru. It has live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Reach are scheduled to play at Whiskey River on Saturday night.
www.reachrocks.com

Whiskey River Bar & Grill is nine intercity minutes to/from the Best Western. Take Main Street into downtown. Make left at North Broadway and make immediate right on 5th Street. Bar immediately on the right side.

The bus service is being provided through Homer's Sports Bar. The bus does not provide service to Whiskey River Bar & Grill. There are zero taxi companies in Peru, IN.

4-man Scramble

The 4-man Scramble will be played on Friday afternoon and evening. It will be teed using a shotgun format with two four-man teams (eightsomes) on each hole. There are 18 teams, 9 eightsomes, and 9 starting holes.

The size and skill of each team has been handicapped. Those handicaps are available online under HANDICAPS. We will be using Poststats Points to determine the winner.

Each participant will be granted one "throw" during the round. A "throw" is an advancement of the team ball without taking a stroke. The ball must be thrown with your hand/arm and there are no running starts. Both feet must remain on the ground throughout the throw. There are no mulligan throws and a ball advanced into the sand trap will be played from the sand trap.

The following participants will tee from the tips or black tees on each and every hole. Bob Morris, Tim Davis, Greg Long, Mike Davis, Matt Davis, Kevin Long, Trent Cooper, Jay Glover, Greg Garrett, Andy Hanks, Jon Sabat, Marty Zabonik, Jack Schone, Mike Pugh, Rich Armstrong, Mike Gibson, Fernando Martinez, Mark Wray, Jay Dilks, Harold Anderson, Barry Cedarquist, Jason Ridgeway, Rob Harvey, Chris Philipsen, Jeff Miller, Joe Muscaro, Matt Pritchard, Matt Mogel, Allan Hench, Jean Dore, and Bill Bateson.

The remainder of the participants have (1) indicated they cannot hit a golf ball 226 yards or (2) have a stroke handicap higher than 16.4 strokes and cannot hit a golf ball 251 yards. These 42 participants will tee from the 'Rock' tees, which include participants older than 50 years.

For the record... Jason Watson, John McAninch, and Kelly Smith have a Top 18 stroke handicap. They have indicated they cannot hit a golf ball 226 yards.

The eightsome format is designed for additional camaraderie and fun. It will naturally slow down pace of play. Please do what you can to keep a 4 1/2 hour round. This can involve telling your best friend to move faster for the best interests of the golf trip.

Rock Hollow Holes

It is recommneded that golfers use the course map on the scorecard. There are a couple of places on the golf course that can draw golfers to the wrong tee box and wrong hole.

Pace of Play

A golf tournament played by the rules (no gimmies, no fluffing, etc.) is not going to be completed in under 5 hours. Not even possible. Add hackers and add time. With that said...

The pairings were designed with "fun" as top priority and "pace of play" as a close second. There are seven foursomes that have a stroke handicap of +100 or higher. This does not guarantee slow play because Chad Long is the slowest player at Spackler with a bogey-golf handicap.

We are expecting the most skilled and fastest golfers to help move things along. That goes for any foursome falling behind. THE LOWEST HANDICAP IN EACH FOURSOME IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SLOW PLAY. Everyone needs to enjoy their round, but they need to understand we are asking low handicappers to help move things along.

Raking bunkers for others, fixing divots for others, replacing divots for others, and carrying a pocket full of XL Top-Flites is being someone's caddy. It also is speeding up pace of play.

Hitting your own ball first, putting out of each hole, and even putting out of turn while someone is raking a greenside bunker can do wonders for pace of play.

None of the above requires asking a fellow golfer to play faster between pulling a club from the bag and swinging it. It does imply as a foursome we will work together to play faster.

Your foursome is playing slow if you cannot see the foursome in front of you.

The following are foursomes with a collective stroke handicap of +100.
