Rochester Booked

WARREN, PA — The nation's most prestigous amateur Open Championship, announced today it has eliminated Rochester, New York as a possibility for the 2005 Open as a location.  The Captains Club received confirmation from 3 golf courses near Rochester, New York.  Surprisingly, all 3 courses are completely booked for at least one day during June 8-12, 2005.

"This sudden development surprised us," says Kevin Long, Jr.  "We cannot believe we are running into scheduling conflicts nearly one year in advance.  With regret, we must move forward and look elsewhere."

The Captains Club received a "booked" confirmation from Bristol Harbour Resort, Greystone Golf Club, and Ravenwood Golf Club near Rochester.

This moves a tremendous focus to Golden Oaks Golf Club, Iron Valley Golf Club, and Olde Homestead Golf Club in Pennsylvania for the 2005 Open Championship.  Other golf courses still fighting for the top spot are the Raven in Snowshoe-WV, Palmer at Olgebay in Wheeling-WV, Conklin Golf Club in Conklin-NY, Eagle Rock Resort in Hazleton-PA, and Timbers of Troy near Baltimore-MD.

The location of the 2005 is scheduled for vote in September with an announcement shortly after.
