MARIANNA, PA — "It all about scouting and finding the best," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Carl Spackler Open.  "A few of us are set to take a look at some of these possible venues."

Greg Long is scheduled to play Mountain Valley Golf Course south of Hazleton, Pennsylvania this Saturday.  Mountain Valley is ranked nationally in the Top 25 as the best most affordable golf course in America by Golf Digest.  "I am personally interested in the 4 1/2 star facility," said Greg with a smile.  "The course has 27 holes so teeing up early is a must."

After playing 27 holes at Mountain Valley, he is off to Eagle Rock Resort on Saturday afternoon.  Eagle Rock is 25 minutes north and is ranked for it's course conditioning and layout by Golf Digest.  "It will be long marathon on Saturday with 45 holes, but will be fun."

Long is scheduled to do some detailed scouting of the golf courses for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open scheduled for play on June 8, 2005.  "We have plenty of great courses, but looking for the best overall value in northeast America."

Long is scheduled to hit the sack and head to Harrisburg, PA for his most important round at Iron Valley Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.  "I am excited about #14 the island green and the reviews that I keep reading about this facility.  Iron Valley is a top notch new facility with great value."

This trip will most likely touch half the proposed venues for 2005.  "I really like these facilities and excited about the 2 day event."  Courses can be reviewed at www.mtvalleygolf.com, www.eaglerockresort.com, and www.ironvalley.com.
