25% Growth Expected

September 6, 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — With invitations scheduled to be mailed in 75 days, the Captains Club is expecting another record number of participants for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open.

"There are never guarantees, but we are expecting about 25% growth for 2005," says Rick Dosky, Chief Financial Officer.  "We are expecting about 64 players in the field."

The tournament started in 2001 with 9 players.  It doubled in 2002 with 18 players and nearly doubled again in 2003 with 32 players.  The 2004 Open in Winston-Salem returned steady growth with 48 players.

"There are so many people that just do not understand," says Dosky.  "This tournament should have already reached 100 players.  Most are intimidated by the size of the group and do not understand the entertainment value we add to all.  We have players from 22 years of age to 73 years young."  The entry to the last Carl Spackler Open was $329 per player.  It included nearly everything except a few meals.

"I attribute the growth to an open Captains Club", says Trojanowski.  "The entire tournament is setup for an outstanding 24-hour, 4-day, non-stop, party with friends. I really enjoy the wide variety of people involved and the lack of golf skill required."

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled for June 8, 2005.
