VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — The Captains Club has announced the signing of Chris Hays of Virginia Beach, VA to a letter of intent for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open. Chris, an electrician, is the 4th rookie to sign for the 54-hole golf tournament. He is also the 3rd player from Virginia to sign.

"We are really proud to recruit such a quality young man as Chris," Jamie Myers said. "He?s a very seasoned veteran of high calibre amateur golf and also golf league competition. Being part of such a great field should be a big asset coming in because we have very high goals at our major championship."

Myers continued, "We?ve been impressed with Chilly's sound fundamental golf swing. It really is smooth. In addition, he?s got a very good short game with a nice putting touch and his course management is also the best I've seen in years."

Chris averages 100 strokes per round.  His last round was played at Ocean View, but only measured 5,400 yards.  He scored 5 pars and 3 bogeys.

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 167 days.  The deadline for registration to this year's major ends in 10 days.
