BRUNSWICK, OH — Mike Certo, an intriguing member, has qualified to play in the 2005 Carl Spackler Open Championship, according to Kevin Long, Jr., VP of Tee Box and member of the Captains Club. Hevy made the announcement at the grand opening of the new, sprawling Virginia CSOC satellite office, where facilities were expanded in response to the high volume of player registration in the state of Virginia.

Very little is known about Certo other than a few "off the course" behaviors.  His golf preparation begins off the putting green with a shot of Jack Daniels and a pack of smokes.  His behavior after Round 1 last year nearly resulted in disaster.  Certo decided to take a long hot shower with the curtain on the outside of the tub.  The hotel was nearly evacuated due to the massive flooding on the 2nd floor.  "I have a stand up shower at home," said Certo after wading through the water in his room.  Carl Spackler was proud of his first attempt at the Golden Jacket and is looking forward to his second.

Attempts to extensively interview Certo over the phone have been made, but he was far too busy, even for the Captains Club, as he continues to remain a silent mistery. Certo is the 7th player to represent Ohio, but the first player from outside the Columbus metropolitan area. Certo is from Brunswick, OH just south of Cleveland.

"Certo is a short guy (5-foot-7), comes from an athletic family", says Hevy Jo, now in his fourth season. "He is a hard worker. He is definitely capable of playing as a sophomore. He is self-motivated and will make a solid contribution to our program in Pottsville and years to come. I think he can win tournaments individually and help the group increase the age of the average player in the field."
