Hunting for the Jacket

January 12, 2005

WARREN, PA — One highly-rated golfer will join the festive Carl Spackler Open in 2005.  Announced on Tuesday, that festive player and 2004 On Tour Champion is Jim English of Warren, PA.

Skip won last year's season long tournament with 48.7 points per round and signs as the 35th player for the June major.  He also signs as the 2nd player in history to wear a mustache.

"Either Skip, Watson, or Hoden must be considered as the top players in the country as of today," says Mike Trojanowski of the Captains Club.  "As weird as it sounds, Skip brings a wealth of fishing and hunting experience to our tournament.  He has a solid game overall and is very competitive as he hunts down his opponents and then takes each of them by surprise. His tailored shot was learned on a boat near his home while fishing.  He cuts his higher irons and yanks the ball back on the green just like catching a giant catfish."

Skip registered online last June and vowed to attend his first major championship.  He is a great competitor and finds a way to get in the hole.  Any hole.  He does not give up and is a fighter, stalker, hunter, and winner.

Skip was tracked down as the local grocery and asked for his thoughts on the upcoming national championship in Pottsville, PA.  "I am getting excited already," says English.  "I know that winning this thing will command a great deal of talent and focus throughout the 54-hole tournament.  The same type of focus as cutting a big piece of steak.  You lose focus with this butcher knife and say goodbye to important body parts.  Parts necessary to grip the golf club."

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 147 days near Pottsville, PA.  The 2005 tournament is scheduled to be played on a first-ever 27 holes.
