DUBLIN, OH — Captains Club member Greg Garrett and the Carl Spackler Open tournament office received a commitment from a quality business athlete for the 2005 major championship.  Matt Pritchard, who represents Ohio and ranks #53 in the world, signed and mailed his national-letter-of-intent and will take to the course for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open beginning in June 2005.

Pritchard is ranked #53 and only above 3 rookies from last year.  The ex-Marine has been playing competitive golf for several years, including his days in Boston, MA where he earned varsity letters as a junior and senior.

"Although Pritchard played so poor he considered quitting, he steadily improved this past summer," said Garrett, who signed for his 4th year two months ago. "Matt showed us no promise last June, but we hope to help him continue his path towards the coveted Golden Jacket. His strength is his competitive attitude and we really like that about him."

Pritchard is coming off his best round in 16 months.  He shot 89 strokes in November and scored a near career best 42 points.  "It was probably my best round since 2002," says Pritchard.  "I really see things coming around and looking forward to 2005.  This year is all business.  Fun is taking a backseat to winning my first championship."

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open has signed 43 players.  An optional practice round is scheduled for June 8, 2005 in both 27 holes and 18 holes.
