McCauley Withdraws

April 27, 2005

SELLERSBURG, IN — Fresh off his stunning 5th consecutive registration and letter of intent, Tom McCauley stunned the Captains Club as he withdrew from the 2005 Carl Spackler Open.

A 33-year-old member of the Captains Club, McCauley became the second member of the Captains Club to ever withdraw from a Carl Spackler Open. Kevin Long, Jr. did so in 2002.

"The overwhelming experience of the Open Championship makes my stomach tingle, but business commitments are of most importance in 2005," McCauley said. "I hope to return next year."

The waiting list is being reviewed including posted scorecards.  A signing could be announced as early as Wednesday.

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in 42 days. There are currently 47 players in the field and one highly demanded spot open. It really looks like tournament staff will be busy over the next few weeks.
