Jon Marti Withdraws

April 28, 2005

WARREN, PA — Jon Marti plans to make a trip to England instead of traveling to Pottsville next month for the 2005 Carl Spackler Open Championship.  With that, he officially withdrew from his first major championship.

"Things are great. I am looking forward to 2005," Marti said. "I apologize about my  wedding commitment in Europe and hope the business office can find a replacement."

Marti gives up his cherished spot in the field of 67 players.  He withdraws 2 short days after the Tom McCauley announcement.  "He will be missed," says son Kyle.  "It is a shame."

Jon Marti has averaged 100 strokes per round since his registration back in April 2003.  With Jim Zavinski's passing, Brian Long's recent transfer to Ohio, Casey Nelson recent transfer to Virginia, and now Jon's withdrawl, the state of Pennsylvania loses 20% of its tournament representation.

The largest golf trip in America currently has a field of 66 players.  The Captains Club looks to fill the coveted spots as players continue pay their balances and make final decisions on attendance.
