NEW $75 Prize Set

May 22, 2005

POTTSVILLE, PA — The Captains Club has set a new prize for the 2005 tournament.  Another prize along with the casino that is not rewarded by great golf or even using a golf club.  However, the greatest shot will be rewarded a prize of $75.00.  The greatest still photograph shot at the tournament.

The photograph can consist of anything and anytime from Wednesday, June 8, 2005 through June 11, 2005 at 6:00PM.  All nominated photographs will be reviewed by the Captains Club for finalists and voted on to determine a winner.  The second place photograph will win a Carl Spackler logo golf towel.

The top photographs will be displayed at the awards presentation.  The winner will receive a $75.00 discount to the 2006 Carl Spackler Open.

"This should generate some pretty funny stuff," says Greg Garrett.  "It is really hard to say what we will see this year with pure cash riding on it."

The higher volume of photographs are expected to help generate even more excitement for future championships and a fresh website.  "I always bring my camera," says John McAninch.  "I guess this gives everyone else a reason to bring theirs."

Entrees are required to have a digital camera or cash for 1 hour processing.  A laptop will be available each day at the golf course for downloading so guys are expected to have their usb cord in their golf bag.  Photographs will only be considered if permitted for complete public view on the Internet.

The first place prize cannot be used as the first $120 non-refundable non-transferable deposit.

The 2005 Carl Spackler Open begins in a little over two weeks at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville, PA.  As the final field of 68 players get excited and prepare, Carl himself is finishing up his course aeration and topdressing in preparation for his vacation.
