COLUMBUS, OH — 2002 MELC Champion Jason "Randy" Watson signed today for this year's event. Randy is the 15th Loozer to sign for this year's event and the eighth from the Columbus area to sign. It's been a rough last couple years for Watson after winning the MELC at GVI. After finishing a respectable 11th in the MELC at GVII, the wheels came off Watson's game at GVIII. "I wasn't really playing that badly last year, I just couldn't score when I had to," Watson said. He added, "I can understand why Brent would question why I continue to play this game. I admit I've struggled a little bit and my scores show it. I play because no matter how badly it looks like I'm playing, I'm still having fun. When the game stops being fun is when I'll consider shutting it down. I hope to be able to contend this year. I'd really like to put my name on the MELC Cup again."

Gus Sokos was asked to comment on Watson's signing. "Some things are meant to be, and Randy Watson at Golfapalooza is one of them. He's always the one passing out shirts and other apparel to everyone as they arrive. On top of that, if there's an empty seat at the card table, he's always willing to fill it. You have to give credit to anyone who willingly spends that much time in a car with Butter on an annual basis. I'm looking forward to the possibility of sharing a cart with him sometime during the weekend."

GVIIII starts in less than 70 days. Final registrations are due by August 15th.
