Tourney Set to Begin

September 17, 2005

TERRA ALTA, WV — With the first attendees set to arrive in a few nights, preparations for this year's tournament are almost complete. Butter Flanagan stepped to the podium to deliver the final update.

"We are as ready as we'll ever be for the tournament next week," Flanagan said to begin the meeting. "Melick is ready to cook and Elvis is ready to slice and dice whatever Melick needs. I picked up the apparel yesterday after work; it looks very sharp. I think everyone will like it. GStan picked up the trophies yesterday and was considering keeping the cornhole trophy at home because he thinks he'll win. I convinced him to bring it. Sheik will be going shopping on Monday for most of the food; any specific requests should be sent to him prior to then. He probably won't pay attention to them, but you don't know unless you ask."

The biggest issue that Flanagan had to resolve this week was with the cart coolers. "We decided to not get towels this year, basically because I have too many. Lyme came up with the idea of getting coolers for the carts with the logo on them. I put the order in about four weeks ago and was waiting for delivery this week. I called the company to check on the status and found out they were behind schedule. I spoke to the president of the company and explained our situation. He agreed to ship the coolers directly to the lodge at Alpine Lake where Anne at the pro shop will hold them for us."

Flanagan ended the meeting with a reminder about beer on the course. "Just to remind everyone, we're really not supposed to leave coolers on the 2nd fairway this year. Anne has agreed to let us use our own coolers if we buy beer from them. I negotiated a price of $1 a can from her. We had her order 10 cases of a mixture of Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Lite, so there's something for everyone. We're not supposed to have bottles on the course, so I'm not sure what the rookies from NYC are going to do with their wine coolers. I don't anticipate us having a problem not drinking that much over four days."

"We hope everyone has safe travels to the cabin. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, expect for Brent. Peace."
