CONKLIN, NY — The #1 tournament in amateur golf, Carl Spackler Open, will head back to the mountains this June 2012. The Captains Club finalized the public venue announcement on Sunday night just before the ultimate deadline. Conklin Players Club in Conklin, NY will finally host the 2012 Carl Spackler Open.

"Today, with much excitement, we have selected Conklin Players Club to host the 2012 Carl Spackler Open," said Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "Once again, we are excited about our unique opportunities, New York, steady growth of the tournament, and god willing exceeding expectations."

Runner up Sultan's Run in Jasper, IN has not been eliminated, but postponed to a future year.

Conklin Players Club has been one of Golf Digest's 4 1/2 star courses for more than 10 years. The wonderful facility is located just 10 miles north of the Pennsylvania border and 2 hours north of Mountain Valley on Interstate 81. The 2012 selection places the 4-day event on Interstate-81 for 3 of 4 straight years.

The owners of the golf course, local hotels, and nearby nightly entertainment submitted their bids in June 2011 to host the 2012 Carl Spackler Open.

"Binghamton and Conklin Players Club have been strongly evaluated since the fall of 2007," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "The mom/pop golf course has always been considered one of the strongest venue options to ever hold a Carl Spackler Open. Pushing Conklin aside for a 5th straight year did not make sense after all vendors got aggressive with their bids."

First impressions are prestine conditions while mother nature provides a boost with scenic views, especially from the course's high point at the 16th green and 17th tee. The design comes through with a course that looks tough and top flight, but does not often beat up the average player.

"Absolutely incredible golf course," says Captains Club member Dave Osborne. "This one is either my all-time best course or a close second."

"It is really nice," says Greg Garrett of Conklin Players Club. "Prepare for an amazing treat. There is a reason why the New York Giants football team travels to Conklin each year for their company outing."

The long hitter will love the front nine. The accurate hitters will love the back nine. The hackers will love the views.

"It is a short beautiful hole to both play and watch from the second floor clubhouse deck. The 18th hole is in my personal Top 50. The overall conditioning of Conklin Players Club was the best ever seen or played on a public course. The attention to detail 30 yards off the fairways is superb."

Conklin Players Club is located 15 minutes southeast of Binghamton, NY. Both the hotel and evening entertainment are located in downtown Binghamton. "We are very pleased with hotel and entertainment in Binghamton," says Greg Garrett, Vice President of Online Scoring. "There are some logistical items for Matt Mogel and Mark Vacca to complete, but 98 percent of event preparations are complete.

Registration for the 2012 Carl Spackler Open is closed, however expected to open on November 15, 2011. The details surrounding the brand new online registration process will be available in the next two weeks. In addition, non-refundable non-transferable deposits of $120 per participant must be postmarked by January 31, 2012.
