CEDAR PARK, TX — The Carl Spackler Open has been held for 18 years in 12 different states with 523 different players. The 4-day event has been held in mid-April, mid-May, early-June, and mid-July for the past 15 years. The Captains Club reaffirmed the event date for the 2019 Carl Spackler Open will move again.

"A date sounds simple and without thought," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "The date will likely move again in 2019 to either May 16-19 or mid-July. It depends on vendor availability and other unknown factors."

Pat Boland added, "Mother's Day, Father's Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, and Captains Club wedding anniversaries consume almost every option available. The change in date will result in a course selection with traditional availability issues around the traditional June date. It will also enable golfers who conflict with the traditional date to participate."

The Captains Club begins looking forward to it's 19th major championship. Greg Long, the winner of the 2001 Carl Spackler Open, then departed with Pat Boland to a local pub to discuss the 'long putt' rule.

The Captains Club has opened negotiations with several golf facilities and continues to search for the perfect golf value. A decision on venue and date are expected prior to Halloween.
