WARREN, PA — Jon Munksgard, a.k.a. Munk, blasted his way into the 2008 Virtual Tournament with 64.5 points per round. The shocking start temporarily stunned the city of Warren and left most of the tournament in fear.

Jon Munksgard opened the season in late-April with a 5-year low 29-over 101. "That round was hard to swallow," said Jon Sabat, Jr. "You take out the lack of range at Jackson Valley and the opening sextuple bogey at the first hole and he shot an unprecedented 23-over 95. Holy Cow!"

The round was good for 74 points. "I hit the ball decent today," said Munk of his round. "I did not hit the ball great, but I hit it good enough and really hit my irons well today."

Munk followed up the 101 with a 109, 110, and 114 in the past week.

"I just stayed patient," said Munk after his third round on Sunday. "I missed a couple putts early in the round, but finally got it going on the back nine." Munk opened with a 26-over 62 before settling down with 12-over 48 on the back nine.

"I made some nice putts on the back nine for bogey, as well as for par at the 15th hole."

Munksgard has made a large move. Mike Lewis thinks not. "The guy got lucky," said a laughing Lewis. "Munk is my big buddy, but he has added strokes everytime he has played this year. At this pace, he will be carding 150 strokes by August."

Jon presently holds 4th position with 64.5 points per round. He trails Don Creighton by 5.7 points per round.
