Rookie Registration

WARREN, PA — Kevin Long, Jr. of the Captains Club took a moment during the Spackler offseason to remind the present members of the existing opportunity to register potential rookies. More importantly, to get important scorecards posted online to establish a handicap. The Poststats.com registration process can be found on the Poststats.com.

"What appears to be an nine month notice is only a 30-day notification for rookies wishing to post scorecards prior to winter," says Kevin Long, Jr.. "We require anyone participating in a Carl Spackler Open to have a minimum of 4-posted scorecards online. We have a great tournament and part of that is because we have accurate handicaps."

The projected attendance for the next event is expected to be 80 golfers before topping off with probably 8 rookies. The bulk of projected rookie attendance is statistically based on distance to venue.

"I have heard very little talk this summer," said Long. "There are more rumors of rookies from 2011 not returning than new rookie attending. I do expect some additions, but a dramatic decrease from the record-high 26 at Mountain Valley."

Rookies will simply register online with Poststats.com and begin to post scorecards for handicapping.

The 12th annual event is expected to be held in North Carolina, Indiana, New York, or Maryland. There are no additional venues options to be considered for 2012.

The event registration process will see a complete overhaul this year.

"A major change in the registration process will begin this fall," says Captains Club member Brian Long. "Rookies interested in the Carl Spackler Open should register with Poststats.com and enter scorecards only. Rookies should wait for further instruction on 2012 golf trip registration."

The 2012 Carl Spackler Open venue will be announced prior to November 1. The event date will most likely be June 6-9. The golf course and lodging arrangements regardless of decision are expected to be very strong.
