Touching Ball

PLEASE FIGHT THE URGE TO TOUCH YOUR BALL UNLESS YOU ARE PERMITTED BY THE RULES. Golfers can touch their ball without penalty when (1) ball is lying on green, (2) ball is embedded in ground, (3) ball is lying in designated ground under repair, (4) ball or stance is on cart path, (4) ball is in fairway divot, or (5) ball is on dirt in fairway. The key word is fairway.

Your partners are likely not going to start an argument on the golf course, but many players are going to be upset. Do not move your ball unless you are ready to add a stroke to your score. PLEASE FIGHT THE URGE TO TOUCH YOUR BALL UNLESS YOU ARE PERMITTED BY THE RULES.
