Coach Buses Planned

December 19, 2010

HAZLETON, PA — The Carl Spackler Open Championship has plans to return this year with more than just a classic field of players. The event is expected to return with upscale safe shuttle bus transportation to/from the golf course on  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The coach bus service removes all excuses for drinking and driving throughout the week. It will also provide cargo transportation for 70 to 90 golf bags back to the hotel on Sunday.

"We are very pleased with the opportunities in Hazleton," says Vice President of Tournament Transportation, Don Creighton. "The primary goal is to fill both buses each day."

The shuttle bus is included in the price of the event and based on 80 golfers in attendance.

"We have not rented one bus for two trips, but rented two buses each day," says Creighton. "The buses will depart at different times on Friday and Sunday to accommodate dual tee starts, but both buses will depart at the same time on Saturday for the shotgun start. Both buses will return to the hotel together each night."

Timber's Lounge is located in the hotel. A 24-hour Perkins Restaurant is attached to the hotel parking lot. A Damon's Grill is 350 yards west of the hotel parking lot.

"The bus might be rented for 1 mile to transport participants from the hotel to Shenanigans Bar," says Creighton. "This would be a one-way service leaving immediately after dropping golfers off at the hotel on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. A taxi-cab phone number would be provided for participants to return from Shenanigans."

There are no other included transportation services.

Daily pairing sheets will be distributed on the bus each morning.

"The round trip bus service to the golf course is 114 miles," says Creighton. "The cost for a seat on the bus is included in the $415 golf trip fee. The Friday shuttle to the Yeungling Brewery in Pottsville is an additional 30 miles."

The 2011 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 9 with the annual practice round. There are 25 participants registered for the 11th annual birthday party. Event registration continues through January 31.
