Option: Practice Rounds

February 1, 2011

BARNESVILLE, PA — The Captains Club announced today the details surrounding the practice round including 36-hole option on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Mountain Valley Golf Course. The practice round returns for its 10th straight year, but offered for the first time in 36 holes.

"Mountain Valley is our first 36-hole facility," says Captains Club member Pat Boland. "There are 36 different holes and the 54-hole tournament will be played using all 36 holes."

The standard practice round is included in the $415 golf trip fee. The round will begin using a shotgun format at 2:45PM EST. The optional second round will be offered inside the participant options next month (March 2011) for 36 holes on Thursday. The second round will be played prior to the standard practice round and cost each participant $15.00. The optional second practice round will also begin using a shotgun format at 7:30AM EST.

"There are 9 new holes at Mountain Valley and one renovated hole," says Boland. "The rest of the holes are more mature in respects to trees, but the same holes from 2005. The new holes are broken apart and part of both 18 hole courses. Playing the Valley course or the Mountain course individually will not provide 2005 participants a look at all the new holes."

The standard 2:45PM EST tee time will accommodate late arrivals. Range balls are included and will be available one-hour prior to both rounds.

"I plan to partake in the 36-hole option," says Boland. "To skip it would mean there is something more important to do. That simply is not the case."

The participant option process will be held in March 2011. Participants will have the option to participate in a "second round" on Thursday for $15.00. The standard practice round at 2:45PM is included in the $415 golf trip fee.

Initial golf bag storage, tournament player meeting, and welcome dinner will begin after the standard practice round. There is no coach bus service planned for Thursday, June 9, 2011.

The Carl Spackler Open will return to Barnesville, PA. Mountain Valley is the first facility to host two Carl Spackler Open's. There are presently 63 participants including 2010 Champion Jeremy Myers signed to participate in the 11th annual birthday party.
