Club Yardages Required
December 18, 2021
PEORIA, IL — The Captains Club announced this week the registration period for the 2022 Carl Spackler Open is open. The 3-month registration period continues until March 15 with an estimated 72 to 80 players who will gather in Peoria, Illinois this coming June.
The Captains Club is jumping into the next step of the planning process, which will involve action from everyone involved. The Captains Club scrapped the Senior Tee Qualifications in September and going to rebuild them from scratch. The process begins with acquiring more data.
We have done away with the senior tee qualifications, said Captains Club member Bill Bateson. Our first step to rebuilding our qualifications is to acquire further information for analysis. We are in need of club yardage distances from lots of golfers.
The Senior Tee Qualifications has used age and stroke handicap for 8 years. The Captains Club could continue to use this data, but wants to study yardages that golfers hit their driver, 5-iron, and 7-iron.
The golfer profile within Poststats.com now includes yardages for 3 clubs, said Bateson. We need those yardages provided. We have added this as a registration requirement for 2022. In addition to registration online and $150 non-transferable deposit, we are requiring club yardages.
Golfers who do not have a driver or 5-iron can leave a particular club blank, but not knowing the distance is not acceptable for attendance. Its a requirement for 30-year olds, 50-year olds, and 70-year olds. There is video instruction provided inside Episode 3 on the Carl Spackler Open TV Channel on YouTube.
The 2022 Carl Spackler Open will be played at Metamora Fields in Peoria, Illinois. There are 72 to 80 golfers expected to participate in the 21st event.
