New TWO PUTT Contest
August 25, 2003
WARREN, PA — The event that everybody will love to play, but will hate to lose, begins next year at Spackler 2004. Each year, players from all over the eastern United States join together for 4 days of golf, drinking and conversation. One person leaves with cash, but this year, one player will leave saying, "I did not 3 putt."
The game, TWO PUTT, will start promptly after Round 1 at the practice putting green. A tee will be inserted into the green at a very far distance from the hole. Each player will be permitted one golf ball and two strokes to putt his ball in the hole. If a player three putts, he is eliminated from competition. This process will be duplicated with remaining players in another location on the green until a winner is determined.
"This sounds like something that I can win", said Hevy Joesph. "At first this sounded like a long drawn out contest, but I think we may lose half the field almost immediately. Especially if the first putt is 60 feet."
Jason Watson, Vice President of Tournament Rules explained, "The player who starts the each round will have the lowest raw tournament score to date. Players who one putt will be moved to the back of the line for the next round. The first tee for the TWO PUTT game will inserted into the green around 11am that day to allow for Round 1 practice."
Jamie Myers exclaimed, "This kind of stuff really gets my juices flowing. These are games that make this trip really fun."
