Budgeting Now is Key
October 3, 2003
ASHTABULA, OH — The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to be played in less than 250 days. "It's time to start thinking about the money", said 2002 Golden Jacket winner Mike Trojanowski. Troj also wants everyone to be reassured that $125 is due before January 5, 2004.
Matt Davis (i.e. Pokey), Vice-President of Kitchen Pass Allocation released the same quick statement as last year for the Captain?s Club, "It is important to save a few dollars in your Christmas budgets. This goes for the non-whipped players. Our tournament will be a great opportunity, but will not be free."
All players will be required to register through the Spackler Business Office by returning their annual letter of intent with a check. Invites are scheduled to be mailed on November 15, 2003 to registered players.
January 5, 2004 will be the absolute deadline for tournament registration. The deadline has been established as a means for our department to count the number of serious players interested in this year?s major and for our office to make appropriate accommodations on January 10, 2004. Checks received after the deadline will be returned and the intended player will forfeit any right to attend the 2004 Open Championship.
The 2004 Carl Spackler Open Championship is scheduled to begin on June 10, 2004 at an undetermined location. The Captains Club continues to research and make key decisions surrounding the two proposed locations (Winston-Salem, NC and Deep Creek, MD) in hopes of finding the best location possible. The total cost of the tournament is estimated no higher than $360 and depends on the location and field size.
