Carl Spackler Returns
January 20, 2004
WARREN, PA — The CEO of the Captains Club, Jamie Myers has announced the signing of Jon Munksgard of Warren, PA to return as Carl Spackler with his national letter of intent.
Munksgard, who will once again be sponsored by Captains Morgan, was given the Carl Spackler Outfit award in 2003 after failing to complete the tournament due to lack of sight. He became the first player to withdraw from an Open due to a lack of one of the seven human senses. Jon lost his sight after drinking an entire bottle of Captains Morgan and racking up 83 strokes inside the first 17 holes of Round 3.
"We understand that Jon is looking into his golf swing and tolerance to the big Captain", said Kevin Long, Sr. "I think two points for a double-bogey could make him the front-runner for a huge turnaround in 2004. I am excited for him."
Jon signs as the 3rd straight player from Pennsylvania and the 26th player overall.
