Preferences Requested
February 11, 2004
WINSTON-SALEM, NC — In conjunction with 2004 Carl Spackler Open, the Captains Club has completed the first phase of our group preparation. Our recruitment efforts received 44 paid players and our office is ready for the 2nd phase of preparation to begin. Beginning today, we are requesting all player preferences for 2004 Carl Spackler Open.
Over the next 60 days, our office will take individual preferences for the golf trip. This includes golf partners, roommates, beer, liquor, pizza, 4-man scramble, optional practice round and transportation to the event. A player can select preferences in less than 2 or 3 minutes using player administration.
Things to consider when selecting your preferences.
1. The Club is procuring beer at 20 cents per can using a special vendor. This type of deal only comes with a selective beer list. If you do not plan to drink beer, please mark your list with "No Thanks". They will contact anyone individually regarding non-alcoholic selections.
2. The Club is also procuring liquor through a special vendor to save money. The selections provided consist of liquor types and not manufacturers. They will be procuring not the cheapest liquor, but the best deal at the time of procurement. Do not select liquor if you do not plan to drink liquor. Select "No Thanks".
3. Don McFarland will be assisting this year with our very, very large pizza order. Please select the toppings you enjoy keeping in mind the more you select, the more complex the order becomes. Select what you normally enjoy on your pizza.
4. Our office would like to ask each player about their transportation (airline or automobile) plans. This is to proactively organize the group for carpooling and flight schedules. Nobody should be renting a car from the Greensboro or Winston-Salem airport.
5. The Wednesday afternoon practice round is back again this year and is optional. The practice round will begin on Wednesday afternoon at 1PM for players looking for an edge on the field. Tanglewood Park greens fees are $44 (including cart) and is not included in your $329 overall price. Your selection also communicates who is traveling on Wednesday morning and who is traveling on Wednesday night after work. A note for the rookies? Approximately one-half of the field attends the optional practice round.
6. The 4-man scramble is scheduled to return in 2004. We will play Round 2 on Friday morning and the scramble will begin immediately afterwards assuming tee-times exist. To guarantee a tee-time was $44 per player, but if tee-times exist each player can participate for $20. I have chosen this option for the group. This is optional and not included in your $329 price. In addition, although we have not been guaranteed a softball field, we are close to locking in a lighted field on Friday night from 6PM to 10PM. The softball field is included in your price of the trip. Players can do both activities if they wish.
7. Tee times, Foursomes and Roommates. Although, the final round will be done in Leaderboard order, the 1st two rounds of golf will allow everyone to select friends. It is important to understand that this is a preference list and not guaranteed. There are 44 players and everyone cannot be accommodated. Please select as many players as possible. This allows our office to attempt to make everyone happy. We will also use this list to determine roommates.
8. Lastly, under your player profile (outside the trip preferences page), anyone can communicate why you play golf. This information is important as the Captains Club tries to put drinkers with drinkers and competitive players with competitive players.
