Tournament Condition
April 30, 2004
WINSTON-SALEM, NC — The Captains Club held a press conference on Thursday to announce several items of interest for the field of players and fans around the world. Items of interest included projected course condition, tournament funding and practice round information.
The first bit of news was announced by Captains Club member Kevin Long. "The club has been in contact with Tanglewood Park. Specifically, we have been acquiring information on golf course condition. The greens are already rolling at about a 10 1/2 and they were aerated two weeks ago", Kevin said. "The turf team indicates perfect tournament condition in 40 days." There was speculative information that the course would possibly be aerated late, but things are looking wonderful for the championship.
The second set of news came from the Chief Financial Officer. Rick Dosky wants to reiterate that all funding has not been received. "I am grateful that most everyone has stepped up to the plate and sent their checks on time. This really makes my job easy, but some of you still owe the group some money."
The third set of news came from the Apparel department. Jamie Myers has completed the golf shirt prototype and has emailed a photo to the field of players. Golf Shirts will cost an extra $22.00 and shirt payments are required by May 15. "I can't guarantee anyone that they can look as good as me, but the shirt sure helps."
The 2004 Carl Spackler Open is scheduled to begin on June 10. To date, 48 players are scheduled to participate in this year's first major.
