DUBLIN, OH — SNN will offer live coverage of the 2004 Carl Spackler Open Championship, the Spackler Business Office announced today from the new SNN Headquarters in Dublin, Ohio. The announcement confirms speculation and rumor swirling since July of last year, when Carl Spackler and Arnold Palmer exchanged barbs through the press over their respective media ventures.
Jay Dilks, who accepted his Dream Job position back on March 24 of this year, will interview players on the 18th green following Thursday?s round. Dilks is preparing feverishly to get all the latest information on the field and the history of the tournament ready in time for his television debut on June 10.
?I?ve scouted everyone, looking for tendencies, strengths, weaknesses, etc., and it has helped me to prepare as a player and as a journalist for this years? tournament. I just hope that I?m not overextending myself. I haven?t been getting very much practice time or rest recently?, said Dilks. ?I have a list of around 100 questions, and I?m very interested to see how the players will respond to them with a microphone and camera jammed into their grills,? he added.
SNN also plans to interview some players coming up the 18th fairway, time and weather permitting. ?It will definitely show the On Tour Championship fans another side of the players, how they think, act, and perform between the ropes,? said Carl Spackler. ?It will definitely be up close and personal. I?ve personally taken Jay under my wing for this project, so I expect him to deliver, and he will,? added Spackler, all the while gently poking Dilks in the chest with a pitchfork to drive his point home.
