Explaining 12's
June 16, 2004
WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Although Mike Lewis finished two separate sides with 74 strokes, he tied for 38th in his first major championship. Even though he scored plenty of NOOG to steer clear of the Outfits, the Spackler News Network did want to speak of his many 12's.
"Can you explain the 12 on #5?" said SNN anchor Jay Dilks. "Well, I was in the trees on my drive... Then with a penalty stroke, I went into the fairway bunker... From there, I swung four times until I got it out... But that shot went into a greenside bunker... Then three more swings until I got the ball out of the bunker and onto the green. I did really well on green. I two-putted for my 12."
The Spackler News Network made it's debut to a exciting success this past week at the 2004 Carl Spackler Open. Jay Dilks was presented as the anchor while Tom Fowble served as the camera man. The network was seen all over the golf course doing fairway and tee box interviews, pregame, postgame, and just standard coverage of the event.
"This was truely the funniest thing that I have seen in years," Tom Fowble. "When you see people crying, you know something special is happening." The Spackler News Network taped 2 hours of coverage and will be creating a DVD for distribution.
