COLUMBUS, OH — Marty Zabonik, aka Z, of Columbus, OH has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at the 2006 Carl Spackler Open, Mike Trojanowski of the Captains Club announced today. The 2nd year member will join the field in June for the annual 54-hole tournament.

Zabonik has earned a second place finish in the 2004 Virtual Tournament.

Z is being nominated for the worst "trash talker" in the field. "Alcohol goes in and trash comes out," says Mike Trojanowski. "He is not your average player, but I am very disappointed with all our scratch players. All of them including Zabonik shot their worst 3 rounds of 2005 at Mountain Valley. That leaves no room for trash talking. I am starting to think our scratch players are good on paper. Just like the Buckeyes."

"In defense of Marty, just because his wife's name is tatooed on his arm doesn't mean he is a wussy," says Bill Bateson. "He really does excel back home on his home course. He just gets nervous."

Zabonik did not play well at the 2005 tournament shooting embarrassing rounds in the 80's. It was not what any expected.

When Zabonik was reached for comment, he spared everyone the trash. "I'm looking forward to this year. I am going to prepare the way we should all have prepared last year. I think this year's course sets up good for me."

The 2006 Carl Spackler Open Championship signing deadline is postmarked in 13 days. Z signs as the 3rd player from Ohio and 6th player overall.
