McFarland Leads Open

WILLIAMSBURG, VA — Don McFarland, rookie for 2002, has begun with fire.  Don started well and continued his excellence, or luck, on Thursday.  "He really was lucky today", said Brian Flanagan.  "Spierkee will not continue to play that well.  He just isn't that good."  Don scored 12 points on long putts.

Jamie Myers, Mike Trojanowski and Brian Flanagan also started well as they rounded out the top four.  "Things are much better this year", said Troj.  "My main goal this off-season was to handoff the Spacker Outfit.  "CEO Jamie Myers also roared to the top of the leaderboard even after 18 strokes on Hole #18.  Myers played a ball from the water as he did last year.  It took him four strokes to remove the ball from the pond.

Hevy Joesph Long surprised the field by showing up at the Colonial to play Round 1.  Hevy Jo shot 90 on the tough Colonial golf course.  Chris Goss is currently at the bottom of the leaderboard with 16 points.  The honoree, Jeff Cowan, scored 18 points and Tom McCauley scored 19 points.

Round 2 of the Carl Spackler Open Championship will begin at 9AM on Friday.  The field is talking about Friday as the day to make their move.  Weather continues to be warm and forecasting to be 90 degrees.
