Barnesville to Host 3rd Spackler
6,450

June 2, 2017

BARNESVILLE, PA — The largest known golf trip in America, Carl Spackler Open, continues to grow in both attendance and stature. The 54-hole golf tournament announced this week the retirement of golf course tee markers and pointed towards the future Carl Spackler Open tee.

"Thank you for coming to our press conference," says the new Vice President of Tournament Yardage, Bill Bateson. "The golf tournament will not tee from Gold, Blue, White, or Black. The tournament field will tee every hole from the Carl Spackler Open tee."

The event purchased 36 tee markers in 2011 to be used for each Carl Spackler Open. Golfers under the age of 50 years will continue to play forward one colored tee. "It is a proud day to be part of the Carl Spackler Open," says Bateson. "I am very excited about my role without event and hope everyone continues to enjoy the tournament upgrade."

Mountain Valley has two golf courses. Both courses will play the same yardage.

"The yardage for both courses is set to the traditional 6,450," added the 11-year attendee. "Golfers above the age of 50 can move up one color, which could include two holes from the red tee."

Holes 3, 5, 6, 12, 15, and 16 of the Mountain course could be played from the traditional blue tee yardage. Hole 13 of the Mountain course could be played from the traditional white tee yardage.

Holes 2, 3, 4, and 6 of the Valley course will be played from the traditional blue tee yardage. Hole 12 could be played from the traditional white tee yardage.

The rest of the holes could be played from the traditional gold tee yardages.

Bill Bateson and his team will survey the courses and set the tees on Wednesday morning to ensure the most fun and best strategy. The team will return to the Mountain course to collect the tees after Round 1 before setting them on the Valley course prior Round 2. The team will also move them from the Valley course to the Mountain course after Round 2 on Saturday.

The 2017 Carl Spackler Open will be held in Barnesville, PA. There are 77 golfers expected to participate in the 17th annual birthday party. A tour of the oldest brewery in America is planned for Thursday morning.
