Phase 2 Begins March 1 or 2
STREETSBORO, OH — The Carl Spackler Open, renowned as the #1 amateur golf tournament in the United States, officially begins Phase 2 of its highly anticipated Roster Acceptance process at the beginning of March. The Captains Club continues the meticulous task of building the participant list for the 24th annual event scheduled to take place in four months.
Chairman of the Captains Club, Greg Long, emphasized the significance of this second phase, stating, "We continue to build our roster for our Ohio event. Registrants listed under the Phase 2 of the Roster Worksheet are added as participants in early March. Unpaid pending participants have until the 21st of March to pay their $200 deposit."
A total of 37 registrants were added on February 1 as part of Phase 1 of the Roster Build. Approximately half of those registrants had paid their deposit prior to February 1. One pending participant remained unpaid throughout Phase 1 and was unregistered in late February.
Paid registrants for Phase 2 will be granted an official roster spot in the coming days. Unpaid pending participants have three weeks, to secure their roster spot by making the required deposit. Failure to receive a full $200 deposit by March 21 will result in the removal and unregistering of those players to make room for Phase 3 registrants.
Captains Club Chief Financial Officer, Rick Dosky, explained, "The Carl Spackler Open requires $200 deposits. Deposits for accepted participants become non-refundable and non-transferrable starting five months prior our event."
Phase 2 encompasses a diverse range of players, volunteers, favorite playing partners, higher contribution grades, and higher attendance grades. The order in which each event roster is constructed is determined by the information provided in the Roster Worksheet. The active sheet is available within the registration process and inside the website notebook.
"We expect to add between 36 and 40 registrants on March 1 or 2,” revealed Captains Club member Matt Pritchard. “Pending participants who miss the Phase 2 deadline have the opportunity to be accepted after Phase 3 if space exists and re-registered by March 31,".
The three-phase approach involves adding a group of registrants as pending participants at the start of each month (or phase), processing received payments, and unregistering unpaid participants at the end of each month (or phase). The participants' webpage identifies pending participants with unpaid deposits. A large portion of registrants make payments upon registration, streamlining the calendar management process.
With the 2025 Carl Spackler Open slated to unfold in Ohio in four months, organizers anticipate participation of 92 golfers in this landmark 24th edition. The first set of participant options and subsequent phases will roll out this month, building excitement among golf enthusiasts and setting the stage for another thrilling tournament experience.
