BINGHAMTON, NY — The Carl Spackler Open business office announced today that En-joie Golf Course just west of downtown Binghamton, NY is booked with double-shot guns on June 7 of next year. The Senior PGA Tour championship style course is in budget, but without availability June 4-7. The course would have  competed against Conklin Players Club and Diamond Hawk Golf Course for the New York State selection to host a Carl Spackler Open.

En-joie was home to the 1972-2006 PGA Tour B.C. Open and now home to the inaugural 2007 Dick's Sporting Goods Open, which was played on the Champions Tour in mid-July. The golf course is in it's best shape just before the professionals arrive, which gave En-joie a great advantage to host.

"We are disappointed with some of the news in Binghamton, NY," says Greg Long, Chairman of the Captains Club. "With greens fees on Saturday morning at $50.00 before negotiations, what else can someone wish for at a Carl Spackler Open."

The PGA Tour’s BC Open boasted past champions Tom Kite, John Daly, Brad Faxon and Craig Stadler. Playing between 5,477 yards and 7,034 yards with four sets of tees and large, receptive, well groomed greens the course sets up for an enjoyable round. The course offers a very challenging round of golf with well placed sand bunkers, strategically located water hazards and very mature tree lined fairways.

En-joie joins nearby Links at Hiawatha Landing as unavailable. The entire state of New York seems to be unavailable. Add Greystone, Ravenwood, and Glen Oak to the unavailable list. The brand new Diamond Hawk in Buffalo, NY and Conklin Players Club in Binghamton are expected to be visited in late August or pushed back to 2009 opportunities.

The Captains Club will select a 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship venue on October 1. The budgeting season will last 30 days in October before registration documents will be created and then made available in mid-November. Participants will have the traditional 45 days to make financial commitments to our 8th Major Championship.
