MOUNT STERLING, KY — With less than one month remaining before a venue announcement for the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship, the Captains Club announced today Old Silo Golf Club, Mount Sterling, and Kentucky have been eliminated for a 4th straight year.

The announcement comes after a disappointing visit in July 2007.

"The latest experience was one disappointment after another," says Pat Boland, Vice President of Red Tee Lottery. "Add the sudden unavailability of tee times on Friday and the choice to remove Old Silo was an easy one."

Mount Sterling lacked quality non-golf entertainment, food, and golf course conditions in July. While services and product dropped in value, the price elevated to its highest ever for both lodging and greens fees.

Old Silo is currently ranked #1 in the state of Kentucky by Golf Digest. The Ramada Inn is just a stinger 2-iron from the clubhouse, which provides unmeasurable flexibility. The 2 minute daily transportation would return 3 entertainment hours back to the itinerary when considering past venues.

"The Old Silo design can stand very strong on its own," says Boland. "With super conditions makes it a great selection regardless of anything else. That does not mean we are going to force things with other great opportunities available. The surprise booking of another outing made our decision quite easy."

The Old Silo venue lost to Mountain Valley in 2005, Neuse and Legacy in 2006, and Grande in 2007. It is not expected to be reviewed again for at least 5 years.

"We are once again disappointed, but excited about the near future and tournament venue selection," added Boland. "We have outstanding opportunities in New York and Indiana to consider and look forward to adding another great venue to our history."

There are 40 written commitments to the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship. A venue announcement is scheduled in 2 weeks with a tournament fee announcement on November 1.
