RUSSELL, PA — The Captains Club announced the official registration period for the 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship remains on schedule and begins today with a required non-refundable non-transferable deposit of $120.00. The tournament also verified a financial cap of first 68 golfers to sign.

"Let's get it on," said Mike Davis, Vice President of Tournament Security. "It's time to stop talking about Spackler and get out the check books. Remember we have a financial cap after the first 68 golfer signings."

The tournament details are open to the public and available online at carlspackleropen.com until December 28.

The 8th annual tournament is scheduled for play 2 miles directly west of downtown Peru, IN. The tournament business office is expecting the cap to be matched for the first time in history, however anything can happen.

There are several requirements for all golfers wishing to participate. "To guarantee a spot, non-refundable non-transferable deposit ($120) must be postmarked by December 28," said Davis, a.k.a. Gumby.

In addition, all remaining balances must be postmarked by April 26. Each golfer is fully responsible to read and fully understand the "Rules of Engagement" which has been published. Distributing verbal invitations without our "Rules of Engagement" will not be an excuse in April. Lastly, please make sure your contact information inside the website is accurate."

Non-refundable non-transferable $120 deposits will be traditionally mailed and traditionally written out to Rick Dosky. Golfers will be signed and checks will be processed online based on postmarked date. All credits will be displayed online in the finance section.

"We have a couple of expectations for rookies considering their first major," says Gumby. "I am providing a general list on the wall in the back of the press room."

The list read:

·  He can shoot 139 strokes or less per round on average.

·  He can financially commit to a 4-day golf trip 6 months in advance.

·  He is not annoyed by alcohol consumption around him.

·  He likes to play golf and meeting new people.

·  He reads email and visits our website at least monthly for updates.

·  He understands a golf trip is generally hundreds of miles from his house.

·  He realizes the tournament encourages local police to place drunk golfers driving vehicles in jail.

·  He can respect all members and vendors plus follow simple directions.

The 2008 Carl Spackler Open Championship begins on June 5. The Indiana selection places the venue in it's 7th different state. There are 64 to 72 participants expected to mail deposits to Rick Dosky. Jeremy Myers, Brian Flanagan, and Greg Long have already signed.
